In trying to keep up with the drawing thing, I failed miserably and forgot to start anything today. Struck for ideas, I asked my housemates what they'd like to see me drawing. So here is the first part of me drawing "a classy hippo"
I'm vowing to not get too distracted with silly things, and work on improving by drawing things out of my comfort zone (cars, guns, etc.). This post on reddit is great inspiration for that.
Here's a quote, but the original essay is really worth a read.
"My roommate repeated a quote to me that bears repeating here: "Everyone has 10,000 bad drawings in them. You have to draw all of them first before you can start to draw the good ones." I really believe this. He had thousands of drawings, and many weren't so great, but he always got better, always built up his inner library of how to draw whatever he wanted....It certainly helps to have some basic things going for you, like an innate sense of space, but it also helps to build your internal vocabulary of things. If you can put a name to something, you can remember it so much more easily, because you can throw out all the unimportant details."
