I've been busy with University work as of late, but I've had a whole week off and I've spent most of it drawing.

The lineart for the hippo is finally finished:
I'd like to think that this would look cool on a shirt or something.

In other news, I'm working on the first 10 pages of a proposed webcomic written by a friend. We've been talking about it for years, but we've finally got hosting on a fledgeling comic site, a script and the motivation to get the ball rolling.

Here is a great quote/piece of advice that I won't but should listen to!

“A person should set his goals as early as he can and devote all his energy and talent to getting there. With enough effort, he may achieve it. Or he may find something that is even more rewarding. But in the end, no matter what the outcome, he will know he has been alive.” -Walt Disney

Hippo rough done. I'm aiming for a classy victorian/Vanity Fair caricature look.

Hippos. Hippoes?

In trying to keep up with the drawing thing, I failed miserably and forgot to start anything today. Struck for ideas, I asked my housemates what they'd like to see me drawing. So here is the first part of me drawing "a classy hippo"

I'm vowing to not get too distracted with silly things, and work on improving by drawing things out of my comfort zone (cars, guns, etc.). This post on reddit is great inspiration for that.

Here's a quote, but the original essay is really worth a read.

"My roommate repeated a quote to me that bears repeating here: "Everyone has 10,000 bad drawings in them. You have to draw all of them first before you can start to draw the good ones." I really believe this. He had thousands of drawings, and many weren't so great, but he always got better, always built up his inner library of how to draw whatever he wanted....It certainly helps to have some basic things going for you, like an innate sense of space, but it also helps to build your internal vocabulary of things. If you can put a name to something, you can remember it so much more easily, because you can throw out all the unimportant details."

I am to be doing the drawings on this blog

I don't like horses, and they don't like me. I like to draw them looking stupid because they are disgusting ridiculous creatures and this should be brought to the attention of small girls that like ponies too much.

If George Stubbs painted unicorns, they would totally look like this.
